A little Q and A with Kirk about his most recent hobby.

Q...Why paintballing?
A...It sounded fun and exciting. Also, it's like a sport without having to be really physically fit. It's something I could do that I thought I'd be good at.

Q...What made you decide to put together this outing?
A...I really like my co-workers and wanted to do something fun with them that a lot of people would enjoy and was different. I've been made the unofficial activity coordinator for the buildings group.

Q...How many people participated?
A...I didn't expect a ton of people to sign up, but the list kept growing once others saw that people we signing up. We had 30 people total, 2/3 co-workers and the remaining family and friends. Age group ranged from 13 years old to 50.

Q...Did you get hit?
A...Yeah and it hurt. I got hit in the mask 3 times in the back and leg once and that was it. I "died" four times, but we played six games, I'm pretty proud of that. I probably took out 10 people.

Q...What was the most exciting part?
A...Storming into the fort. I was the first to enter the enemy fort, believe it or not.

Q...Do you feel that all the computer games you have played throughout the years helped to prepare you for this?
A...Absolutely

Q...Was it a success?
A...Everybody I talked to said they would come back in the fall when we do this again. (Ginny too! She didn't want to leave Bruce for that long with someone on a Saturday morning though she really wanted to go). Someone told me, "Thanks for being you." Guess my enthusiasm and yelling made it fun for everyone.

Fun Day at the Park

Kirk got off work early today so we headed over to Shawnee Mission Park, probably because I talked it up so much from hanging out the day before with a friend. The three of us enjoyed walking around, lounging on a blanket together, and taking lots of pictures!

From My Class, Week 2

On this week's layout I used pictures from our trip to Colorado. Throughout these tutorials I have been using the photos that I have on hand so they aren't necessarily what I would use, but I learn the techniques and that's what is important! It got me inspired to actually start working on these pages. Below was inspired by a layout I saw in my class website, but was made from scratch all on my own!

Handbag Tag

Courtesy of Meredith, I've been tagged. That's right, I'll be sharing the contents of my purse with you. For Christmas, I asked for a wallet and keys containing, single diaper carrying, small pack of wet wipes included, pacifier thrown in, and drool cloth inside so I don't have to carry around the huge diaper bag everywhere I go bag. Thanks Nicole! Anyway, it has been a church bag, a purse, and as you see it a holder of all things personal and baby....welcome to motherhood.

So there you have it. Not much out of the ordinary...keys, lotion, sunglasses, antibacterial, few pens including one we "borrowed" from The Melting Pot (good place, eh Meredith?), stamps, toy rings, Chick-Fil-A coupon, grocery list, some loose change, my voter registration card, receipts from Sam's (when Bruce was born we got a Sam's membership for the diapers and a few other items, I feel so guilty if I go anywhere else to buy milk...at $2.79 a gallon it's the best deal in town) and Target (the trip to buy all his feeding stuff).

From My Class, Week 1

These are the digital layouts we were walked through this week in my Photoshop class. Oh man, I'm having a ton of fun with this!

Photoshop

We purchased a new computer for Kirk a few months ago and had Photoshop Elements included because I had heard so many good things that could be done to photos, digital scrapbooking, etc. I am so lost in this program and it's been quite frustrating. I couldn't stay this in the dark for long so I signed up for a short online course that is offered by Jessica Sprague, a contributing editor for Creating Keepsakes Magazine. Today was the first day to access the tutorials and I'm super excited about what I've learned so far. Check out the new header for my blog...eh, eh! There are just so many awesome techniques. I can't wait to learn even more! I've added her link to the sites I frequent.

First...

food! Bruce has been watching us intently whenever we ate for the last month or so. The pediatrician, at his four month visit, said it would be fine to start him on cereal. That was a month ago. I've been putting it off because I've been sick. Well, today was the day! Last week I got him a seat that attaches to the chair, some plastic bibs, cups and spoons, and of course the rice cereal. It really doesn't taste that good, but he didn't mind it.

Career Fair

Kirk was assigned by his company to go to the Mizzou Career Fair on February 19th. I was itching to get out so Bruce and I went with him. We stayed with Lisa and David (thanks guys!) and had a great time. On Tuesday I went out to Warrenton to visit Mom, Dad, Dan, Chris, and Mike. That night we had good old Shakespeares Pizza.

Lisa and I talked cards on Wednesday and met David at Bread Basket Cafe for lunch. How fun to be out and about with Lisa with our boys in the back!


That afternoon, I met Kirk at the power plant and he showed Bruce to all his old co-workers. We packed up, took a few pictures, and came home.

Happy Birthday Baby!

I'm still sick so unfortunately Kirk didn't get a lot of hoopla, but it was a good day nonetheless! He began his birthday with a hunt for his gifts. I got him a computer game called The Orange Box, he has been playing it and absolutely enjoys it. He received a fun card game and gift card, too. He picked Chipotle to eat for lunch. We went to a church activity for dinner and then tore into a cookie cake at home!

Happy Valentine's Day

Today could have been a lot worse! The bad thing is that I'm sick with strep. The good things are the chocolate and card I got from my dear hubby this morning, the time he took off work this afternoon to help with Bruce, the grocery shopping he did while out picking up my medicine, going to get our taxes done (hooray for refunds!), and the Chinese food he brought home for dinner. I guess I'm saying that what could have been a terrible day actually turned out okay.
