Happy Birthday Baby!

I'm still sick so unfortunately Kirk didn't get a lot of hoopla, but it was a good day nonetheless! He began his birthday with a hunt for his gifts. I got him a computer game called The Orange Box, he has been playing it and absolutely enjoys it. He received a fun card game and gift card, too. He picked Chipotle to eat for lunch. We went to a church activity for dinner and then tore into a cookie cake at home!

Happy Valentine's Day

Today could have been a lot worse! The bad thing is that I'm sick with strep. The good things are the chocolate and card I got from my dear hubby this morning, the time he took off work this afternoon to help with Bruce, the grocery shopping he did while out picking up my medicine, going to get our taxes done (hooray for refunds!), and the Chinese food he brought home for dinner. I guess I'm saying that what could have been a terrible day actually turned out okay.

What a week!

Usually not much of note is going on around our home, but this past week has been the exception.

~Tuesday Bruce went for his 4 month appointment. He weighed in at 16 pounds 11 ounces and is 26" long. If you've seen him you'll agree that he's got some beefy arms, but nothing to be concerned about. Not much unusual there, but the week wasn't over.

~Our friends, Meredith and Eric had an adorable baby boy. Number 3 (or 4 if you count Eric) for their family! You can check out her blog under sites I frequent. I can't wait to go see him!

~Saturday I went to participate in the caucus. It was a neat experience. I'd recommend getting involved in this process whenever you can. I saw the reports of frustrated voters who overwhelmed the locations on Tuesday so I was expecting long waits and chaos. Not so!

~Moving right along through the weekend...We've come to realize, through certain activities, that our parakeets are female and male. Yesterday evening I found an egg in the bottom of the cage! I felt bad for removing it, but we do not need more animals to take care of! A baby, some birds, and a husband are enough for me for now! I wonder how many more eggs will come because an article I read indicated that keets will lay every other day, laying about 4-6 eggs..eek!

~I finally got my stamps in the mail that I bought off e-bay. One of my hobbies is making cards and scrapbooking. I bought three sets of Stampin-Up stamps for under $15, not bad! Thanks e-bay! Maybe I'll post some of my projects sometime.

~And lastly, a milestone for Bruce....he rolled over today!! I could tell that he was getting close. He could go from laying on his back to his side and I've seen him go from his side to his stomach, just not all at once. Today he did it twice with us watching. Way to go Brucie boy!

What Else?

So this new background and new title got me thinking. What else have I been wanting to change? What else in my life do I need to improve upon? Well, I know I have lost enthusiasm to consistently exercise (I know, I know...no big surprise). Hmm, when it gets warmer out? I know that I feel better when my life is balanced...you know with family, self, spirit. On a side note, have you heard about the Hinckley Challenge? Check it out! President Hinckley always encouraged us to be a little better than we were yesterday. I guess I won't list everything that needs work in my life, but it definitely has gotten me thinking...what else?

New Glasses

I've never worn glasses or contacts. I had an eye exam last week. I knew at my eye exam last year that I had a minor prescription. I wanted to get some glasses to wear when I'm driving at night (the glare makes it difficult for me to feel super comfortable driving), on the computer, or reading. I guess I can be excited because I only wear them whenever I want.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

I have been making chocolate chip cookies for several years now and they always seemed to turn out too crunchy, flat, or raw! To my utter astonishment, lately they have been turning out perfectly soft, fluffy, and completely cooked. Same recipe, pan, temperature...I'm going crazy trying to figure out what the difference is. Anyway, despite the many health concerns this creates we have been making cookies on Sunday afternoons together. Here is today's batch!

Reunion

This is a shout out for some help!

I belong to an online gaming community called The Mormon Battalion. The majority are LDS and we joined them when we started playing Guild Wars. Last summer we got together in Colorado at the YMCA of the Rockies and had a blast!

Not the weird gamer types you thought they'd be, eh? Heehee, look at me and my pregnant self and hated haircut (I really didn't like that cut). How soon I forget! Anyway, we are planning to get together again in 2009. I am the chairperson for the 2009 Reunion Committee. The first step is for us to find a location that will house 10+ families under one roof, preferably a bedroom/bath for each family. Do you have any recommendations?

A Gift for Mommy

Last Saturday was my afternoon out. I got my haircut and poked around in the mall. While I was out Kirk and Bruce went grocery shopping (boy was I surprised when I got a call from Kirk and he asked if there was anything I needed from there). Then I came home and look what the boys got me...

Three Months

My boy is three months old! I can't believe it's only been three months since he joined us....it feels like it's been a lot longer than that. Sometimes I just want to eat him up he's so cute!

Here's more about him and what he can do now...
On average he sleeps from 8:00 to 2:00, wakes up for a feeding, and goes back to sleep till 7:00. He has three to four naps during the day.
Smiling though we haven't been able to capture it on camera.
Grabbing for objects and bringing them to his mouth. Everything goes in the mouth now.
If holding your hands he can go from laying down to sitting up to standing.
Just moved up to size three diapers and wearing 3-6 and 6-9 month clothes, depending on the brand.
Yes he's ticklish and makes the most adorable noises when tickled!

My New Favorite Movie

Okay, so maybe it's not my most favorite movie ever but it ranks up there! Stardust with Claire Danes, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Robert De Niro. It takes a fairy tale plot, adds some unexpected/non-traditional characters, and whoila...a good movie!
