Still here...

just a few states away! Kirk was offered a position here so we packed up and made the move. Our house is for sale, just looked at the listing pictures and am close to crying. It was our first home, ya know, but this job means he's employed and that's such a blessing. We're in an apartment for at least a year, maybe more depending on how long it takes to sell the house. It's a huge apartment community, practically it's own zip code. There is a playground nearby. Kirk has aspirations to learn how to golf since we surround a golf course. Our church building is adjacent to the apartments. We've had a few couples over and have a goal to meet a new family each week. This is the best time to be social since we have the excuse of being new to the area and desperately need friends.

Anyway, the boys are well.

Bruce has started singing a lot more. Songs like "Twinkle, Twinkle" and the Alphabet song. I love it, especially when he'll let me sing with him. He loves Cars. We indulge this obsession with a new car every other week or so. He is sweet and interactive with Henry half the time and rough or indifferent the other half. I had been blowing on Henry's tummy to get him to laugh and Bruce wanted to try.

Henry is teething so my happy, easy-going baby has taken a vacation. I hope he'll return soon! He just started rolling over, back to tummy, this week. His super dry skin does seem to be getting better. I'll admit that I am a little disappointed at the blond hair that's coming in. His hair was darker when he was born. Henry seems to be ready to eat. We got him his own chair so we'll be starting him on some baby cereal soon.

Gotta love the carpet under the table...noo, we won't spill anything on it.

We Believe...

Bruce's Nursery class is learning the Articles of Faith. We're so proud of our little guy memorizing it!

Free Movie Tickets

Keep on the lookout for boxes of General Mills cereal that offer a Free Movie Ticket. It takes two boxes to get one ticket. I just bought some Cinnamon Toast Crunch at WM. Though I usually get off brand cereal (tastes just as good), I still consider this a good deal. That's how our recent date night to see Avatar was funded!

High Tech Generation

What are we doing to our kids? lol

For good measure

My parents visited last week and brought some goodies for us. I really appreciate all the sewing my mom has done for me and my family. I've been the recipient of numerous Halloween costumes as a child, some of my favorite pot holders are ones that she made, and some pajama pants that are well worn. The boys also enjoy the fruits of this wonderful talent. Bruce, most recently, got this hat and mittens.

We've been enjoying some deer summer sausage, canned relish and peppers, and pots and pans from my dad.

Henry enjoyed the head massage Mom was giving him. I've never seen him so content.

Which One?

I found a good deal on some curtains. Even better is a choice of three different styles that coordinate. I picked up a solid red and tan/cream/red stripe. There is also a solid tan. Here are the pictures...what do you think? I have our sliding glass door to buy panels and valences for, the window seat to put valences on (or is that too much?...I wanted to make a cushioned seat and some coordinating pillows), and I can re-cover our chairs to match. That makes three definite areas to choose prints for. If I end up using all three styles is that gonna be too matchy, matchy?

Just for clarification, I threw up both curtains to see how they looked...I'm not planning on mixing them like they are pictured.

Decorating 101

Let me preface with a disclaimer...this being our first home, any decorating we do is sporadic and on a budget.

We'd like to do some window treatments for our sliding glass door and bay window (I'd love to sew a cushion for the window seat). Do I coordinate with the green couches in the living room? The fireplace in the living room is blue. There is blue in the flooring and backsplash. What color curtains would you suggest then? The walls are brown so I think any additional brown would be too drab. Also, the front window curtains seem unfinished. Any ideas?

The walls are lacking. I find it difficult to add one piece at a time because I'm afraid it will make the room off center. I guess it'd be better than the blank canvas it currently is. lol

Here are some photos to give you an idea of the layout and current state of things.

Henry

Here are a few pictures of the little guy. He is grinning and gurgling. I appreciate his 4-6 hour stretches of sleep at night. His hair has a light auburn coloring to it. I've noticed he really takes an interest in Bruce. As much as a 6 week old can, of course. I imagine it's gonna be like that for a long time, little brother looking up to big brother. On that front, Bruce has his sweet moments where he will actually talk to him (hooray!). Unfortunately he is still intentionally rough too.

It never fails, if Henry is in the baby carrier he falls asleep. I do enjoy how he'll stare at me until he does. I realized today that he is due for some nail clipping.

Gotta Love Him

Can't resist taking a picture of a sleeping Bruce. It seems like I take one every other month!
